It’s funny you should mention that because I recently discovered I could download my Medium articles from Medium in a single handy zip file, and I did so in case Medium goes under — which it could because it’s run as an experiment by a technology entrepreneur.

I haven’t entirely forgotten about those pdfs. I’m almost finished my anthology on religion. After that would come the next, fourth general anthology, both of which would be on Amazon in paper and digital formats. The file of the religion one got corrupted somehow, which made it a pain to edit so I had to start over again, which became annoying so I gave up on it for awhile. But it’s pretty much done now. I just have to fix the page numbers and double check some things.

Anyway, I’m proud of the philosophical writings I started in 2011. I see their sum as a pretty cool work of art. I wonder how my writings would have compared if I’d succeeded in becoming an academic. Could that failure have been a blessing in disguise?

But yeah, if Medium goes under I have copies of everything I’ve written on my computer, saved in various formats. I wouldn’t let it fade away to nothing if I could help it, although eventually it will indeed likely descend into obscurity. It would be a pain to reboot my Medium articles on some other platform like Substack. I’d have the Amazon books and I could put out lots more such collections. But the steady readership is nice to have. Maybe a Discord or Patreon site might one day be worthwhile for me.
