It's by implication. Yes, he's talking explicitly only about philosophy here, but what he doesn't like about philosophy is that it distracts from progress with pointless, unanswerable questions. Anything else that distracts from scientific progress should be just as offensive to Tyson, regardless of the nature of that distraction.

Anyway, this is a quibble since the article is focused on philosophy's relationship with science.
