It was a shock to me too, the lowering of intellectual standards. I'd written hundreds of these kinds of philosophical articles on my blog since 2011, before I switched to Medium a year ago, and on my blog I wrote in the normal, literary way, without the baby paragraphs. (See the link below, for example.)

Then I saw the new normal and was dismayed. You need not only baby paragraphs, but baby sentences and baby words to have sellable (disposable) content. It's a mind-killer, which is why I don't actually read much on Medium. I have way too many books to read that are written for grown-ups.
