It sounds like you're a rationalist, using armchair reasoning to figure out logically what the ultimate cause might be. Theoretical physics has become rationalistic or speculative, too, relying on exotic math because the cosmologists have pushed science to the edge of what can be tested. But I think the Big Bang comes down to the need for a theory of quantum gravity. There should be no singularity since if there were one, the singularity would be as supernatural and inexplicable as God.

You might be interested in my take on Judaism (links below). Orthodox, literalistic Jews would disagree with it, but I think they're missing the point. Judaism ends up being more like agnostic Chinese pragmatism than like literalistic monotheism.
