It depends which country the scientists are from, and which religion is in question. I wouldn't be surprised if that many scientists are religious if we're talking about a global pattern, since then we'd be including Eastern religions which are more mature and naturalistic than the theistic ones. There are also exoteric and esoteric interpretations of each religion. What would be surprising is if many scientists were fundamentalists, or naively literalistic in their religious beliefs and practices.
