It depends what we mean by "deify." I wrote something recently on this question, called "Rectifying Religion’s Cooptation of the Sublime." I don't think nature should be personified, but there's room for a secular sense of the numinous and of the sublime, and those experiences are valuable because they broaden the perspective and elevate our character and sense of mission.
