Instead, you have a reading comprehension problem. The first alleged misconception about the Bible is supposed to be found in this sentence of mine, the second half of which you ignored:
"Would a God who wants to fit into human understanding create a fallen world in the first place, complete with a demonic tempter to take advantage of his creatures' innocence?"
I was aware of the Fall from Edenic Innocense myth, but I hope it comforts you to presume that only those who are ignorant of the gospel (or who are evil) would reject it.
What you say about the second supposed misconception is just a quibble. Yes, there were intermediaries, but they would have been instruments God used to achieve his overall purpose. Jesus would have been God's only-begotten child. And Jesus would have been sacrificially killed, like a scapegoat, to pay for our sins or to serve as a model for our contemplation. Thus, Christians hold sacred an act of child sacrifice. So much for a Christian basis of family values.
