Indeed, there's tribalism and then there are the black swans. When a rule is ceteris paribus, there are always exceptions to that rule. Nevertheless, we generalize or simplify to understand the buzzing confusion of phenomena which in their totality transcend our comprehension. That's what all concepts are for, not just racist stereotypes.

That's what annoys me about the taboo of racism, that there's supposed to be some special, unpardonable sin involved in racist stereotypes, whereas we think in comparable stereotypes about everything under the sun.
