Indeed, that seems to be the more sophisticated, science-informed, and liberal view. The right-wing experts on religion are often not real scholars. They may memorize the Bible or the Quran, but their knowledge of religion is only superficial. They don't know the real history or anthropology. Comparative mythologists have a much better overview of where religions stand in society and in the planet's natural course. That makes them humbler about the status of religious claims.
