Indeed, technoscientific progress plus an enlightened collective mindset might amount to the holy grail. The one might hamper the other, though. For instance, the more we understand how nature works to enable us to control it, the more we might appreciate the absurdity of life in the cosmic setting, which would make us depressed and anxious. The artificial domains we build are supposed to alleviate that stress or at least distract us from being too enlightened for our good.
