Indeed, our mode understanding may be deadly. I've written about the humanization of our environment which results in this questionable progress. We understand things to control and to transform them.

But when we don't understand things, we're at nature' mercy. So the question is whether nature is benevolent and driven by consciousness, or else monstrous and inhuman, something that ought to be improved on.
