Indeed, Chinese fearlessness in pursuing technical solutions should enable them to prevail in certain sectors. That expertise may be countered, though, by their corresponding lack of creativity and ingenuity, which are skills that may require a culture that promotes greater freedom of thought than any totalitarian technocracy can allow.

The dialogue below suggests that the Chinese people are likely to approve of their political system for producing their economically best few decades in Chinese history (lifting them out of extreme poverty and returning China to a powerful position on the world stage after the humiliation of the Opium Wars).
