Indeed, being maladjusted doesn't mean you're helping society or fixing social ills. Likewise, being well-adjusted to social conventions doesn't mean your line of work is good for society.
My point here is that even maladjusted liberals and progressives may have reason to cheer on Trump if he humiliates and trashes the establishment. There's a reason there was some overlap between Bernie Sanders' supporters and Trump's: both supporters are radicals, and maladjustment is liable to radicalize the outsider.
