Indeed, and lots of brooding teenagers go through Christ phases, including me. We grow long hair and feel we carry the world on our shoulders because we're alienated as we've lost our childish innocence. We sacrifice our happiness for dark, subversive existential knowledge--and for our muse, if we're artistically inclined. I think that dynamic is older than Jesus but he's a paradigmatic case.
