I'm talking about the epistemic default in rich, highly educated, developed countries. That default is summed up by the word "modernity," and its burden of proof was met by the Scientific Revolution, centuries ago. So there's no need to beat a dead horse or to reinvent the wheel. If someone wants to know why scientists subscribe to methodological naturalism, and thus presume atheism, they need merely read about the history of modern science to find out.
