I'm sure you're right that there are varieties of conservativism. In fact, my series on conservatism assumes as much, since I take on those varieties to test my hypothesis that all the versions end up obscuring the practical upshot of conservatism, which is the social Darwinian promotion of human forms of dominance hierarchies. Do you know of a type of conservatism that's distinct from liberalism and that doesn't reduce, in practice, to social Darwinism?
