I'm sure those other factors are relevant to explaining how consciousness emerges and how human mentality works. Not sure if language and socialization are relevant specifically to explaining qualia.

But I agree there are degrees or modes of consciousness. In fact, I'll be writing on that subject soon in a follow-up to this article.
