I'm not talking so much about God here, but about the sentimentality behind the cliché that "God is love." It's an aesthetic judgment.

Anyway, there are plenty of reasons to be angry about religions even if they're based on lies. If lies were to capture the minds of billions who retard social progress, wouldn't that be alarming? The anger wouldn't be directed at the deity who doesn't exist, but at the billions who've duped, and at the effects of their ignorance and naivety.
