I'm not talking just about liberals who've converted from conservative sects, as in those who are technically "deconstructing" their faith. Some indeed are brought up as liberal Christians.

The split, rather, is between antimodern, anti-intellectual, authoritarian literalists and inerrantists, on the one hand (conservatives), and modernized, liberal, quasi-Christian secular humanists, on the other. Each side is liable to be obnoxious in very different respects. There can also be upstanding exceptions in either case, politicized Christians who have integrity and who haven't made a total disgrace of their worldview.

I'd be surprised if progressive Christianity made for a complete worldview since it's an anachronism, and these Christians struggle more earnestly to reconcile the outdated theology with modern knowledge and mores.
