I'm not sure our conscious and unconscious minds can be naturally united. The brain seems to function like a kitchen funnel. We can learn about our unconscious side, but there's always more unconscious activity going on in the brain than what we're immediately aware of, because consciousness is a point of relatively narrow awareness (like the smaller end of a funnel).
The brain/mind simplifies data by processing it and by focussing our attention only on the relevant, highly processed outputs. The whole point is to ignore the processing stages, which is why most of our senses point outward.
