I'm not sure if "family" is the crucial unit in your analysis, or if it's clan or class. The wealthy do these things whether they have families or not or whether the adults are happily married or many-times divorced. Wealth and decadence perpetrate these exploitations and deceptions, by corrupting the wealthy.
Plato made this point long ago when he said that we'd likely all commit crimes if we could do so with impunity, such as if we had a ring that made us invisible when we wear it. The wealthy are typically insulated from the effects of their amorality, so they can do whatever they want. That kind of freedom is corrupting.
