I'm not familiar with Bourdieu's argument, but I can see how the honourific sense of "intelligence" might be useful for ideological, political purposes.

But it seems to me a stretch to think of an ecosystem as learning, remembering, or planning for anything. What makes this harder is our penchant for personifying everything to socialize with it. We can see personal patterns everywhere, thanks to our ability to suspend our disbelief and play with our imagination.
