I'm aware you're not big on this existential take on atheism. So this is an area of disagreement, in that I push atheism towards cosmicism rather than towards secular humanism. But I think secular humanism is vastly superior to theistic religions. It's just that I can't help seeing room for criticizing secular societies too. The problem is that mainstream cultures generally tend to be compromised, so it's left to countercultures to see through the hypocrisy and the mass delusions. Again, I don't think secular humanists are as deluded as theists, but consumerism, for example, isn't so advanced (to say the least).
