I'm aware of these kinds of statistics, and I have no trouble believing them. Ignorance is bliss, and the truth can easily hurt, so if atheists hew closer to the facts and to the most rationally justified worldview, they can naturally be subject more to depression and anxiety. This is one reason for the Nietzschean task of finding a viable, atheistic, late-modern religion.
