If religions are about controlling populations, the illogic of their creeds would be irrelevant. Look at Jordan Peterson's demagoguery. He's formed a cult to appeal to young white men who are being demonized by Woke culture and who are losing out to the automation of labour. He's not using logic or facts as much as secular myths, fearmongering, and other kinds of emotional manipulation. He's appealing to emotions and yearnings, just like theistic religions do. It's like the Webb telescope that's showing us in detail how stars are born: with Peterson's rants, we can see how social groups bond over creeds that are irrational precisely to test the members' faith and loyalty, as I argue in the article below.
