I wonder how much curiosity overlaps with artistic and scientific analyses. I suppose animals objectify each other, but not with much scientific understanding or logical rigor. Animals would rely more on heuristics (rules of thumb), fight or flight reactions, and some learning by trial and error. But I don't know if most animals model their environment as people do.

And do animals have aesthetic taste? Do they appreciate beauty? Certainly, they can be repelled by ugliness, as they might have an inbuilt disgust reaction. But have they reflected on the difference between beauty and ugliness as such? Have they organized their societies around maximizing beauty?

Anyway, I'd want to emphasize some other aspects of this "culture war." But sure, paying attention must figure into what artists and scientists do.
