I was trying to say that Jews and Christians too may use their image as the victims of oppression to conceal the extent to which they're currently the oppressors. By identifying with Jesus, the ultimate victim, Christians can take on the mantle of being victims, but that gambit is liable to be grotesque if that current identification is superficial at best.

You can pay lip service to victimhood while being materially a dominant villain. Similarly, the ancient Jews might have been victims of oppression, as they were under the Nazis, but currently Jews are dominant in Israel. History matters only so much.
