I was thinking of my articles of how countercultures have historically clashed with mainstream cultures. So if Jesus was a counterculturalist, those today who are all-too mainstream in their Christianity--because of how Christianity had to betray its founder's absolutism when it became a politicized, organized religion under Rome--would naturally have been against Jesus, just as they have no objection against marginalizing twenty-first century counterculturalists.
