I was thinking more about miracles. There's a danger of taking for granted whatever we're most familiar with. We take for granted the bizarreness of late-modern scientific theories and the anomalousness of our technologies, even though we're effectively re-enchanting nature.

I also don't assume any such strawmanned materialism. First of all, matter is equivalent to energy. Second, we've ditched the old Newtonian billiard ball, mechanistic conception of matter. Third, mental and moral properties can emerge from nonmental and amoral ones.

All absolute theories of everything are insults to our intelligence, including theism. How could a mind be timeless and immaterial? What caused God? Etc.
