I understand the distinction you're drawing, but you're strawmanning my criticism, and by focussing on the recent cutting edge of economics, you're downplaying the social damage done by many decades of economic orthodoxy. Who else but fellow Ivory Tower economists are up to date on the nuances of twenty-first century economics?

Luckily, I've written up in article form the upshot of what I've been trying to say in this exchange of ours. Ironically, then, you have yourself to thank for this latest article of mine on economics that will be coming out in a week or so.

I should add that there's a difference between having an opinion, and having an ax to grind. I didn't say I'm neutral or perfectly openminded about economics. But I don't have an ulterior agenda, such as a line of income to protect or a deep-seated grudge against economics built into me since I was a kid.
