I think you're talking about meritocracy, a hierarchy that works for the best. That's what Confucianism was about and it's what the Chinese are after. But do you see how even the virtuous professionals can be tempted to abuse their power so that the meritocracy becomes a dominance hierarchy after all?

I hope you're right, and we agree on the damage done by concentrations of power. I aim to write something soon on game theory and neoliberalism, so I'll be returning to these issues.
