I think we share a similar, meta-historical, largely Eastern perspective on Christianity and modernity. I've written about the shamanic and entheogenic background of patriarchal monotheism, as well as on the Axial Age revolutions in spirituality, and the perennial spiritual or visionary counterculture that Christendom naturally betrayed. One difference is that you seem more opposed to modernity than I am. I'm ambivalent about it. I argue against a simplistic notion of modern progress, given the evident drawbacks of technological advances and of the selfish consumer mindset. But I admire the tragic heroism of the existential rebellion against what seems to me the godless wilderness. Your view seems closer to the animistic enchantment of nature, whereas my philosophy is closer to science's objectification of nature. I don't shy away, though, from the latter's horrific implications.
