I think it might be more polytheistic at its core, with the emphasis on saints. They may not be called deities, but they're functionally divine in that there's a different saint for each occasion: the saint of this or the saint of that. This is part of Christendom co-optation of paganism, including polytheism. Or the saints are like the demigods and heroes of Greek mythology.
