I think all adults want to indoctrinate or enculturate children since that's the proper relationship between older and young people. As you say, there's a difference between teaching them how to think and teaching them what to think, but liberalism, individualism, and secular humanism are often implied by the principles of critical thinking. Why would children be taught how to think if we had divine revelation handy? Children should be taught how to think because we're forced to solve our social problems by ourselves, and that's a modern liberal assumption.
I didn't say there's a perfect alternative political system out there to try. I'm just explaining how several structural problems with liberalism ironically contributed to the rise of Trumpism.
