I suppose it depends on whether we're speaking of myths in narrow or broad terms. Narrowly, in so far as myths must be theistic, I don't think there's an absolute human need for such myths. But in so far as ideologies can depend on myths, legends, delusions, or faith-based presumptions, I suspect there are no non-mythic worldviews. Naturalism is likely the world's most rational worldview, but the secular humanistic underpinning still requires a questionable kind of faith (in ourselves). This secular faith or anthropocentrism is all the more questionable because of the downside of progress, including the despoliation of the ecosystems, the infantilization of consumers, and so on.
