I suppose a good psychiatrist might have to take all of that context into consideration when assessing a patient's problems. But what about a general response to harmful social norms? Psychiatrists can't criticize their society's norms without getting into philosophical territory, whereas psychiatry is supposed to be a medical, scientific profession.
