I respect Buddhism more than the monotheistic religions, but I'm suspicious of Buddhists' lack of philosophizing. They appeal to raw experience, which seems cultish to me. Why should nature's pure physicality be reassuring to social mammals? Is it just something you feel after you discipline your mind for years? But we can be mentally conditioned to accept nonsense, as in a cult.
I agree that it's juvenile to expect nature to conform to our expectations. Nature has work to do that has nothing to do with us. Monotheism is more childish in that respect since that kind of religion isn't naturalistic. But naturalism has a downside that Buddhist mental conditioning may conceal rather than overcome.
