I might overuse "neoliberal." I suspect that that word is defined differently by different writers, too, so it's a slippery one. Mainly, the new liberals are the centrists who've made their peace with capitalism, as opposed to the progressives or socialists who still seek radical reform. And the centrist liberals (the Clintonians, including Obama and Biden) trust in capitalism, if not in wholly free markets. They know capitalism needs to be managed, such as by a central bank, but they still seek to privatize more and more sectors.
