I mean, I could list 20 articles of mine, going back to 2011 that show I've always been opposed to scientism (because scientismists are implicitly opposed to philosophy).
The key difference is between saying science is the best and saying it's the only form of explanation. Those are two very different statements. "Scientism" has often been too loosely defined for partisan purposes. Then again, I think scientism is just a prejudice against the arts or humanities that can manifest in different ways. I have no such prejudice since I defend philosophy, art, fiction, and so on. But just because the arts are valuable doesn't mean they're equally as effective at doing what science does well. There's such a thing as specialization here.
Can you name a form of explanation that's been as rigorously worked out as the scientific kind? Theology certainly isn't one.
