I haven't played that game, but I'm familiar with it. The problem with the simulation theory is that it only pushes back the need for answers. If it's not simulations all the way down, what's the unsimulated world like?

I think parts of Genesis are rewrites of older myths that go back to Sumer, Babylon, and Assyria. That's where the council of engineers comes from.
