I have no problem with saying that no article of mine is the complete truth. Explanations can always be expanded.

I agree also that Democratic technocracy can conflict with common sense. However, commonsense can become vulgar and monstrous. Democratic liberalism is a civilizing force, whereas conservative free market policies are tribalizing and monstrifying. The "commonsense" of America's rural areas is not the kind you'd wanting running the country. What those trolls think is obvious is the most preposterous jumble of conspiracy theories and religious vanities.

I understand that the left has likewise been tribalized. I'm referring to the "postmodern" extremism of cancel culture, critical race theory, intersectional feminism, and so on. Possibly, the left's extremism is in reaction to the right's. The latter fundamentalism is ancient so it's likely primary.

It seems an oversimplification to say the Democrats chose reason over commonsense in selling out their progressive principles. They chose self-destructive capitalistic logic and egoism over humanistic philosophy and morality. There isn't just one game of rationality in town.
