I have an article coming out this Monday (tomorrow) on the bodhisattva view of compassion in Buddhism, which I think makes my main point pretty clearly.
Your point about the state of no-thought being devoid of emotion seems to support mine about the neutrality of what I call a cosmic perspective. The enlightened human awareness approximates nature's impersonal neutrality. Why expect, then, morality to flow from that sense of enlightenment? Morality (or nationalism or humanism) should be as biased and arbitrary as egoism. That's my big criticism of Eastern spirituality.
By the way, how's Substack going? I set up an account, but haven't posted anything yet. I'm not sure it's worthwhile for newbies.
