I hadn't heard of Devon Think. As for the value of my ten years of writing, it's hardly what it would have been if I'd been writing on more popular subjects. For the last few months I've been making $1,000 a month from Medium, so that's new. I can only imagine what those Medium writers with many more followers make. There's certainly growth potential for me on Medium, especially after the recent switch from a focus on Medium-edited content to one on independent creators like me.

But frankly, the main value that's sustained me in writing for those ten years has been my appreciation of what I've written. Sometimes, the best art is produced without a large audience. When a large audience comes, the art and the artistic inspiration are ruined.
