I go over the same topics in other articles, and some are more technical than others, although I try to write for a general audience. The topics themselves aren't always easy to explain.

What I was saying there has to do with the nature of explanation. The success of science came to define what it means to give a genuine explanation, and religions don't explain things in the same way. Religions are more about reassuring us with stories (myths) that can be interpreted in lots of ways, like other artworks.

Scientists explain things by modelling them and testing their models. The theistic model is unfalsifiable since it's not clearly enough stated, and religious folks don't stand by their empirical predictions. For instance, early Christians said the second coming was happening soon, but although that was mistaken, Christians didn't give up their religion. They have "faith" in their creed, whereas scientists are more skeptical and they side with the explanations that are best supported by evidence.
