I don’t think language is self-correcting. Both Heidegger and Wittgenstein said quite the opposite. Heidegger said language misleads us into overlooking the mystery of Being, so we have to go back to ancient Greek to get past the way our modern languages obscure a better way of experiencing the world. And Wittgenstein said philosophical language bewitches us into creating problems that aren’t there.

I agree that science isn’t likely to solve the hard problem of consciousness. But it’s not the case that consciousness has to be thought of as isolated or disconnected from a higher power. Consciousness is isolated in so far as we have freewill, as Sartre emphasized, for example. But existentialists can also point out that consciousness is a product of nature’s absurdity. So we can replace God with nature as the source of our conscious experience.
