I don't shun bliss. I'd distinguish, though, the happiness of consumers from mystical joy or awe. It's a question of doing justice to reality. Seeing reality as consciousness is different from seeing nature through a more scientific lens (as in objectifying science, not personal empiricism). Different starting points can license different primary emotional reactions. There's a major clash between humanism and the upshot of the scientific view of the universe. I'm not saying we should stew in the horror that results from that clash, but neither should we pretend that everything's alright.
