I don't say we're entirely corrupt. That's the Christian view. I'm pessimistic, but I don't say social progress in secular terms is impossible. It's just that we have a lot that's weighing us down and distracting us.
Elsewhere I write that the way out is through an aesthetic reconstruction of moral distinctions. That's the way to naturalize morality, contrary to deontology, utilitarianism, and even virtue theory.
