I don't know if this argument is "postmodern deconstructionist," exactly. Are you speaking about the Church's "horrific savagery"? The savagery of Romero's zombies is, of course, fictional, so there would be no need for an excuse in that case.

I'm just pointing out that the Christian myth needs to be whitewashed because its essence has much in common with a horror subgenre that few would dream of revering. How do you end up worshipping what's effectively a zombie (or a ghost)? With a lot of BS from the Church.
