I do focus on American culture, both because of where I live (in Canada) and because the US has been a superpower for decades, so that it's largely responsible for the global capitalist monoculture.
But I don't think my argument about Catholic disneyfication establishes your point. Yes, it's obviously an American reference, but is that so surprising? American culture emerged from Europe and thus from Catholic Christendom. There's continuity there, so the comparison isn't out of left field. What's supposed to be surprising and illuminating is that Catholic disneyfication long preceded Walt Disney.
