I didn't say or imply that average Christians have always had it easy. They do now because Christendom was replaced with secular republics.

But my point about disneyfication has to do with whether a worldview is low-res or high-res, as it were. You can suffer and die for a low-res simplification, if you've been taught to cling to it.

Buddhists would say the same about average egoists. Consumers cling to a low-res idea of the self, and we suffer from cravings in our efforts to advance that abstraction. Nevertheless, the folk self-image isn't as deep or as unsettling as a neurologist's model of the brain.

So I think this criticism of yours is a red herring.
